Steve Bayer MSPT, ATC, CSCS
Steve is the physical therapist at the Racine Family YMCA location, a joint partnership between PT Plus and Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare/All Saints. After receiving a B.S. in Exercise Science in 1995 from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, he earned his Master’s degree in Physical Therapy in 1998 from the University of Miami, focusing his practice in the areas of orthopedic and sports physical therapy ever since. Steve recently completed a 30-month manual therapy residency program with the Manual Therapy Institute, and will be moving on to the fellowship-training phase of the program this year to further advance his skills and education.

In addition to his physical therapy training, Steve is currently a nationally certified Athletic Trainer, a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist, and is a Certified Sports Performance Coach with USA Weightlifting. This background allows him to specialize in sports medicine rehabilitation, and in sports performance enhancement training with athletes of all ages and skill levels. Additionally Steve has advanced training in lower extremity biomechanics, and the use of custom foot orthoses as an adjunct to his rehabilitation programs. He also utilizes the facilities at the YMCA to provide aquatic physical therapy treatment sessions to his patients in their heated exercise pool.
