Phil is a 1982 graduate of Old Dominion and a long time Physical Therapist in the Oconomowoc area. He has expertise in sports medicine, occupational rehabilitation and manual Therapy. PT Plus is happy to announce that effective April 27, 2007, PT Plus clinics will be “in network” with United Health Care. This will complete the management efforts to participate in every major health plan in Southeastern Wisconsin. Being part of UHC will allow the majority of people who live in Southeastern Wisconsin to access the high level of service provided by the Physical Therapists at PT Plus. Chad Novasic P.T., the president of PT Plus says “This is a new day for the people who have UHC as their insurance.” He goes on to say “in today’s medical environment with costs going through the roof, PT Plus has developed a plan that maximizes the care offered while understanding the need to keep costs down.”
PT Plus has opened it's newest clinic in the heart of the recently renovated downtown area of Bay View. Located on the corner of KK and Lincoln Avenues, it is on a very accessible route from the southern suburbs to downtown. Set in a space along with massage therapists, acupuncturists, a Reki therapist and a chiropractor, this PT clinic will illustrate the elimination of health care boundaries that can create a prime healing environment for the patient. Several non-traditional health care providers working together to ensure the highest level of care to the community will be show cased at the 437 E. Lincoln Avenue. Through cross referrals and inter therapist communication, a new and resounding way to treat clients will be offered. PT Plus will provide our patient physical therapy for those with sport injuries, post surgical issues, low back and neck pain, general strains and sprain, vestibular and balance problems, as well as dysfunctions arising from neurological disorders including strokes, MS and Parkingson's disease. This will be accomplished through manual therapy including PRRT (Primal Reflex Release Technique), modalities and therapeutic exercise.
Steve Bayer, MSPT, ATC, CSCS, FAAOMPT and Andrew Connolly, PT, OCS, FAAOMPT both Physical Therapists with PT Plus, recently completed a post graduate fellowship of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT). Bayer and Connolly completed the residency and fellowship programs through The Manual Therapy Institute (accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association). They become only the tenth and eleventh Physical Therapists in the state of Wisconsin with this designation. The post graduate fellowship FAAOMPT signifies having advanced competencies in clinical, analytical, and hands-on skills and knowledge in the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. The fellowship provides focus on a subspecialty area of clinical practice, education, or research. The subspecialty Bayer and Connolly studied is spinal and extremity joint manipulations. They are recognized as experts in orthopedic rehabilitation. Patients can expect faster recovery times due to expert clinical diagnostic evaluation and treatment principles. The achievement took over fours years to complete and involved intensive clinical and didactic instruction and extensive mentored clinical experience, providing an appropriate patient population to create an environment for building advanced clinical skills. The residency and fellowship program includes over 440 hours working with mentors. Doug Mallers, PT, OCS, FAAOMPT of Mallers and Swoverland Orthopedic Physical Therapy in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Richard Bigalk, PT, OCS, FAAOMPT of Concentra Medical Centers in Milwaukee, Wisconsin guided Bayer and Connolly through the completion of the fellowship. Connolly also worked with fellows Pieter Kroon, PT, OCS, FAAOMPT and Tim Kruchowski, PT, OCS, FAAOMPT of “Sports Performance International in Austin, Texas to accrue the over 440 hours necessary for completion. Other requirements included a written dissertation, oral defense and final exam with an actual patient. Bayer is the physical therapist at the Racine Family YMCA location, a joint partnership between PT Plus and Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare/All Saints. After receiving a B.S. in Exercise Science in 1995 from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, he earned his Master’s degree in Physical Therapy in 1998 from the University of Miami, focusing his practice in the areas of orthopedic and sports physical therapy ever since. In addition to his physical therapy training, Steve is currently a nationally certified Athletic Trainer, a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist, and is a Certified Sports Performance Coach with USA Weightlifting. This background allows him to specialize in sports medicine rehabilitation, and in sports performance enhancement training with athletes of all ages and skill levels. Additionally, Steve has advanced training in lower extremity biomechanics, and the use of custom foot orthoses as an adjunct to his rehabilitation programs. Connolly is a part owner in the PT Plus clinics in Oak Creek, Burlington and Union Grove. Andrew is a 1996 graduate of Finch University in Chicago with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy. Andrew’s educational and treatment focuses include manual therapy for orthopedic dysfunctions of the spine and pelvis, headaches, TMJ disorders, and extremities for injuries sustained in motor vehicle accidents, at work, at home, and in sports. For over 13 years Andrew has provided outpatient manual orthopedic and industrial physical therapy services for the communities of Waterford, Union Grove, Racine, Kenosha, Burlington, Oak Creek and Franklin.
PT Plus is proud to announce the addition of Sarah Wozny, DPT, CSCS, NASM-PES to our family of clinics. Sarah sees patients at the Racine location of PT Plus located at 1300 S. Green Bay Road. Sarah is an experienced Physical Therapist who joins PT Plus after working in the St. Louis area. Sarah specializes in patients with athletic injuries. Her emphasis is “return to sport,” focusing on getting athletes back in the game. She helps patients with all types of injuries, specializing in shoulder and knee problems. Sarah graduated from Saint Louis University in 2006 with her Masters of Physical Therapy and completed her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2007. Sarah’s clinical experience includes orthopedic, sports and manual therapy. Sarah also has experience as a personal trainer and used her knowledge on injury prevention and biomechanics to create and continuously maintain various programs for clients of all fitness levels and needs. Sarah is a member of the National Strength and Condition Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) as well as a Performance Enhancement Specialist for the National Academy of Sports Medicine. In her spare time, Sarah competes in triathlons, enjoys running, biking, basketball, volleyball and softball. Sarah, her husband Mark and their two dogs have recently returned from Kansas to their home of Wisconsin and are happy to be closer to their friends and family. Sarah is a native of Green Bay.
